I’m going to miss this little face for a while. I just dropped him off at boarding so that I can face my next big health challenge head on. Many of you already are aware that my breast cancer has returned after being gone for 28 years. Tomorrow, I’m having a double mastectomy.
Every morning, I do this chair yoga session with Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. It centers me and improves my mobility for the day. What I so appreciate about Adriene’s style is that she suggests, more than once, to “open your mind to a new experience.” Radically altering my body qualifies as a new experience, I reckon. The cognitive dissonance associated with this is strong. I feel fine right now, but 24 hours from now, I suspect I will be in some serious pain.
This journey has shown me how amazing my network of friends and family is. I cannot express enough the joy and love I feel for everyone who has called, sent cards, and come to visit. Community is truly what we need in this world today. I don’t know what I would do without you all.
See you (and Kirby-dog) on the other side.
Peace and strength Judy!
Hugs and prayers for speedy recovery!
